'Gorge'

Killer music is just one reason to catch this four-day dance and performance event featuring a rotating assortment of new works. Put together by local dance provocateur April Sellers, the show boasts Motown tunes for choreographer Kristi Faulkner's salute to Detroit, plus plenty of Janis Joplin in a post-apocalyptic, nude-filled romp by the April Sellers Dance Collective (pictured). And then there's Dancebums, the collective that likens itself to a rock band, presenting a fresh collaboration with vocalist/keyboardist Eric Mayson and percussionist Toby Ramaswamy. A new choral piece by Samantha Johns and Nona Invie is also featured on select evenings. (7:30 p.m. Oct. 19-21, 2 p.m. Oct. 22, Southern Theater, Mpls., $20-$24, 612-340-0155, southerntheater.org)
