Damaging non-thunderstorm related winds will be another adverse aspect ofthe potent storm trekking into the Northeast today. Winds will howl on thestorm's back side. Gusts between 40 and 60 mph are expected. Flight delays,problems for semi-trucks and power outages could all result.Winds will whip from the central Great Lakes to the central AppalachianMountains today, then the eastern Great Lakes and mid-Atlantic tonight. More ofthe Northeast will get buffeted Saturday. Gusty winds, however, will notdevelop over northern New England until Saturday night.

Gusts will blow strong enough to bring down trees and power lines. Poweroutages would result. Additional damage would ensue if trees land on cars orother structures.

Drivers of high-profile vehicles are urged to use extreme caution. Windsthreaten to overturn or steer semi-trucks off roadways. Drivers of smaller carswill even feel winds tug on their vehicles.
