A longtime Hennepin County prosecutor and veteran business attorney will vie for a Hennepin County judgeship this fall.

Elizabeth Cutter and Steven Antolak handily won Tuesday's primary, with 42 and 22 percent of the vote, respectively.

They defeated two other veteran Hennepin County prosecutors, including Deborah Russell, who successfully prosecuted Amy Senser, and Diane Krenz. Russell received 18 percent of the vote, while Krenz, of the community prosecution division, received 17 percent.

Cutter, a 20-year veteran of the office, works in the Adult Prosecution Division. Antolak, a onetime Assitant County Attorney and commercial litigator, now runs a solo practice.

Cutter and Antolak will race for the seat left open when longtime Judge Deborah Hedlund retired after 32 years on the bench.

In other judicial races, Supreme Court Chief Justice Lorie Skjerven Gildea won the primary with 50 percent of the vote and will race against Dan Griffith of International Falls. Associate Justice David Stras, who took 49 percent, will face off against Tim Tingelstad of Bemidji.
