Cub Foods is holding a first-of-its kind career fair for supermarket managers, another sign of the Twin Cities' tight labor market.

The Stillwater-based grocery chain, the Twin Cities' largest, will host a career fair next week to fill more than 50 management positions.

Cub is looking for all sorts of department managers – produce, meat, bakery, etc. – as well as pharmacists and even store directors.

The grocery chain has held career fairs in the past for hourly workers such as cashiers. "This is a first for us," said Jeff Swanson, a spokesman for Eden Prairie-based Supervalu, which owns Cub Foods.

The career fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, in Stillwater at 421 South 3rd St.

Qualified candidates need to apply online at www.cub.com before attending the career fair, and bring their resumes to the event. Interviews will be conducted on a first-come basis. Cub is looking for applicants with previous management experience.
