Authorities on Friday said they believe a missing 10-year-old boy from Crystal may be with someone he knows and that the case is likely not a stranger abduction.

Barway Edwin Collins has been missing since after school Wednesday. He was last seen near his apartment building in the 5400 block of Douglas Drive N., according to the Crystal Police Department. His father called police about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

"At this juncture, we are [following] all possible leads including any and all possible suspects," Chief Stephanie Revering said at a news conference Friday night. "This is a missing persons report and we are doing anything and everything we can to locate Barway and bring him home."

An Amber Alert has not been issued because it's not believed that a stranger is involved, Revering said. Also, there is no vehicle description to support an Amber Alert, which alerts motorists via lighted road signs, texts and online messaging to be on the watch for certain cars or suspects.

Collins is 5 feet tall, 80 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a black jacket, white T-shirt, black pants, red shoes and was carrying a red backpack, the alert said. He is black.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office and the FBI are helping with the case.

Police are asking anyone with information on the child's whereabouts to call the Crystal Police Department via Hennepin County Dispatch at 952-258-5321 or dial 911.
