Two police officers and four other people suffered minor injuries Monday evening when a Minneapolis squad car crashed into an apartment building after hitting another vehicle, authorities said.

Police spokesman John Elder said officers were on their way to a medical emergency at 8 p.m. when a car carrying seven people entered the intersection at 36th and Fremont avenues N. just ahead of the squad. The squad and the car collided, sending the squad into an apartment building on the northeast corner of the intersection.

No one was in the apartment at the time.

Two officers and four of the seven people in the car were taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. None of the injuries was life-threatening.

Failing to yield and alcohol use by the driver of the car could be contributing factors to the crash, Elder said.
