Crash on icy central Minnesota road kills pickup driver

The crash occurred as the pickup was heading north on the bypass connecting Hwy. 71 to Hwy. 23, about halfway between Willmar and Spicer.

A pickup truck went off an icy road in central Minnesota and rolled over, killing the driver, authorities said.

The crash occurred shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday as the pickup was heading north on the bypass connecting Hwy. 71 to Hwy. 23, about halfway between Willmar and Spicer, according to the State Patrol.

The driver, a 49-year-old man from Gary, S.D., was killed, the patrol said. His 55-year-old wife was not hurt. Both were wearing seat belts, according to the patrol.

Identities were being withheld pending notification of family.
