A bicyclist was run over and killed on a highway near St. Cloud shortly before dawn Tuesday, authorities said.
The car hit the bicycle about 5:45 a.m. on Hwy. 15 near Riverside Avenue in Sartell, according to the State Patrol.
The person killed was identified by the patrol as 54-year-old Scott C. Erickstad, of Sartell.
The bicyclist was "attempting to cross to the east side of Hwy. 15" when the car hit him north of Riverside Avenue, the patrol said in a statement.
The motorist, Jason Stocker, 40, of Sartell, was not injured, the patrol said.
For more than an hour after the crash, southbound Hwy. 15 was closed, and the northbound side was reduced to one lane as investigators collected evidence.
