Fans who survived the Jane's Addiction debacle might disagree, but we're starting to feel a little sorry for the folks at AEG Live when it comes to their bad-lucked Twin Cities endeavors. The latest blow for the company's regional branch came Thursday night when Irish '90s stars the Cranberries cancelled their set at AEG's new venue the Brick right at showtime. Opening band Vintage Trouble had already played – quite a rousing set, too, it sounded like -- and everything seemed normal until the lights dimmed for the headliners to take the stage. Only one of the band members walked out, though, and he broke the news to the 1,000 or so fans.

"He said, 'I hate to do this to you, but we're not going to play tonight. Delores is sick," Cities 97 "Club Crawl" scenester Greg Burke recounted, referring to Cranberries singer Delores O'Riordan. There was no solid word of what was ailing the 40-year-old singer. This is the latest in a string of seemingly random cancellations blamed on her illnesses, including a show in Sydney, Australia, in March and another in Philadelphia two weeks ago, both reportedly due to food poisoning. The makeup date for the Philly show is supposed to be this Saturday.

It looks like the Minneapolis show will not be rescheduled. The Brick's staff already announced that refunds will be given out starting Monday. This is the latest in a string of poisoned events for them, too. After their Jane's Addiction opening concert in March was entirely refunded due to complaints of overcrowding, AEG also suffered the abrupt cancellation by Swedish metal band Opeth at Myth two weeks ago when its singer had to be rushed to the hospital with a head wound (co-headliner Mastodon still performed). AEG is also the co-promoter of the hi-fi tour by Swedish dance star Avicii, whose May 26 date at Target Center date recently made the bizarre move to Sept. 7 to the Minneapolis Convention Center.

Maybe the Brick and AEG should just stick with good, hard-working, trouble-free American bands. Oh wait, never mind.
