Simon Cowell
Not to be outdone by Quincy Jones' re-recording of "We Are the World" this week, Simon Cowell assembled an all-star cast to record a version of R.E.M.'s "Everybody Hurts" to raise money for recovery efforts in Haiti.
The "American Idol" judge and TV producer leaned on some of his friends to record in London or Los Angeles: Mariah Carey, Susan Boyle, Robbie Williams, Michael Buble, Jon Bon Jovi, Rod Stewart, Kylie Minogue and Cheryl Cole, a judge on England's "X Factor."
The new recording, with its distinctive British accent and overwrought instrumentation, was streaming on the Internet on Wednesday and will be available for download on Sunday.
