County 47 closure in Plymouth delayed until Sunday

The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced Thursday the closure of County Road 47 between Yucca and Teakwood lanes will be delayed until 5 p.m.Sunday, due to unexpected equipment issues.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced Thursday the closure of County Road 47 between Yucca and Teakwood lanes will be delayed until 5 p.m.Sunday, due to unexpected equipment issues.

The road will be closed through the end of October so crews can demolish and widen the I-494 bridge over the road.

Motorists can bypass the closure using Northwest Boulevard, Bass Lake Road, Vicksburg Lane and Schmidt Lake Road.

Residents who live near County Road 47 should expect to hear demolition and construction noise overnight Sunday to Monday. Crews must demolish the bridge during the night because of the lighter traffic. During the day, crews will use large equipment to drive sheets of metal into the ground.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation has closed County Road 47 between Yucca and Teakwood lanes as of Tuesday, and the road will remain closed until mid-October.

The closure is necessary to allow crews to widen the Interstate 494 bridge spanning the road.

Motorists may bypass the closure by using Northwest Boulevard, Bass Lake Road, Vicksburg Lane and Schmidt Lake Road.
