Cordarrelle Patterson caught the pass and may have caught a break.

Patterson left Friday's training camp practice early, the Vikings' first, after landing hard on his left shoulder. A quick check in the medical tent led to him leaving the field for good yesterday.

There's no long-term worry, however, as the injury to his left shoulder area is considered "minor in nature," a source said. He was seen Saturday morning without any visible support on that shoulder, which is a good sign.

Patterson, 25, is playing to earn a new contract as he enters the final year of his rookie deal in Minnesota. The former first-round pick, benched in the middle of the 2014 season, has drawn praise this offseason from head coach Mike Zimmer for his improved play in practice so far.
