A New Jersey business, AmerTac, has recalled 227,000 night lights after 25 reports of the lights smoking, burning or melting, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced this month. This is AmerTac's third major night-light recall in 15 months, involving a total of 760,000 lights. It also recalled 35,000 night lights in 2006 for the same reasons. In August, Whistleblower reported on an AmerTac light that burst into flames in a 3-year-old's bedroom in Vadnais Heights. AmerTac paid the family $1,531 for damage. The recall covers lights with 71190 or 71190A stamped on them. They were packaged as AmerTac model 327895, Amerelle model 71190 and Everyday Basics model 076092. They were sold in 2009 and 2010.
