Four mothers who met on Facebook are coordinating a community search Thursday for the missing 10-year-old boy from Crystal.

About 100 people are expected to gather at the North Mississippi Regional Park at 1 p.m. Thursday to search for fourth-grader Barway Collins.

Barway was last seen March 18 after being dropped off from his school van outside the Cedarwood Apartments in the 400 block of Douglas Avenue N. in Crystal.

Crystal police, with the help of the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office, the FBI and the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, have focused their search along the Mississippi River, east of Crystal from Interstate 694 south to Minneapolis' Webber-Camden area.

But those searches aren't enough, said Penny Castano, one of the search organizers.

"I'd like to see a lot more out of the police," she said. "I feel like the media has been given such limited information, and I haven't seen a whole lot of police presence. We just don't want this to be swept under the rug."

The group behind Thursday's search has grown to include many people who have children the same age as Barway.

Castano said she expects about 100 people to help search a 3- to 5-mile stretch of the parkway near the North Mississippi Regional Park.

"We all have kids, and … feel a sense of compassion for this little boy, and we are losing sleep," Castano said. "I can't let it go."
