Vikings middle linebacker E.J. Henderson is among the candidates for the NFL Comeback Player of the Year award, which will be announced this evening on the NFL Network.

Henderson returned to play in all 16 games this season after suffering a broken femur in his left leg in December 2009 against Arizona. Although some feared his career might be over, Henderson tied for the team lead this season with three interceptions and was second on the Vikings with 139 tackles.

While Henderson certainly is deserving, the expectation is that Eagles quarterback Michael Vick will take home the honor. Vick already has been named the comeback player of the year by The Sporting News. That was voted on by a panel of 617 NFL players, coaches and executives.

Vick, who took over as the Eagles starting quarterback this season and helped guide them to the playoffs, missed two seasons while serving a prison sentence after a federal dog fighting conviction. Vick was fourth in the NFL with a 100.2 passer rating and had 3,018 yards passing, 21 touchdowns and only six interceptions. He signed with Philadelphia before the 2009 season and was a backup to Donovan McNabb for a year.

This comeback honor is presented by the Associated Press and will be announced during the NFL Network's "Total Access" show, which will start at 7:30 p.m.

The NFL Network also will carry the Hall of Fame announcement at 6 p.m. this evening. Former Vikings wide receiver Cris Carter and defensive end Chris Doleman are among the finalists.
