A two-vehicle collision in central Minnesota killed two people and has one of the drivers in jail, authorities said Sunday.
The crash occurred about 11:20 p.m. Saturday at N. Benton Drive and 2nd Street N. in Sauk Rapids, police said.
Driver Tom Souvannaphong, 22, of St. Cloud, was heading west on 2nd, when he ran into the side of a vehicle heading north on Benton Drive, according to police.
Two front-seat occupants in the vehicle on Benton were killed, and a third person was admitted to St. Cloud Hospital with noncritical injuries.
Souvannaphong was treated at the same hospital for his injuries and then jailed on suspicion of being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, police said.
Since 2009, Souvannaphong has been ticketed three times for speeding and once for failure to exercise due care or control.
The names of the people killed and injured have yet to be released pending notification of family.
