Coldplay included St. Paul among the initial round of cities announced on its 2012 North American tour – and it looks like we just made it by the skin of the British rockers' bad teeth. The Aug. 11 stop at Xcel Energy Center is the final date listed among the 21 shows listed this morning. They kick off April 17 in Edmonton, Alberta, but include many weeklong gaps between dates – presumably so frontman Chris Martin and the other fellas in the band can return home to their families. Tickets for the St. Paul show go on sale Dec. 17 through Ticketmaster at prices to be announced. There is a presale for American Express cardholders starting Monday.

The band is touring behind its "Mylo Xyloto" album, whose mega-promotion includes a 90-minute "Austin City Limits" special on PBS for New Year's Eve and the release of a new single, "Charlie Brown." The lads had to play Charles Schulz's home turf, in that case. Their last time in the Twin Cities was also at the X, a sold-out show in November 2008.
