Don't haul the boat out, just yet.

The Minneapolis Park Board announced Friday that they were delaying boat launches on public lakes because of the cold weather.

Boaters need to be inspected for invasive species before setting out on the lakes. So anyone hoping to out by April 15, the original start date for inspections, will have to wait.

They are assessing ice conditions "on a daily basis" and will notify the public when inspections will begin at Lake Calhoun and Lake Nokomis.

Lake Harriet launches may be delayed even longer because of ice damage, the board said.
