Jonathan Adler closing sale

When Jonathan Adler opened in spring 2012, designer Adler said the Uptown location "just felt right."

Apparently it wasn't a perfect fit. His Minneapolis upscale home decor store, known for its mod juicy colors, bold graphics and retro vibe, is closing Jan. 23. Until then, furniture, lamps and rugs on the floor are discounted 60 percent. Accessories, pillows and throws remain at full price. It probably didn't help that the high-end furniture retailer (accessories are more moderately priced) seemed out of place on Lake Street, just down the block from Ragstock, Mesa Pizza and Urban Outfitters. The Jonathan Adler store in Philadelphia also closed last month.

A local retail blogger speculated that the Galleria in Edina could be a future store site. However, a Jonathan Adler company spokesman said they were exploring new retail space in the area, but wouldn't specify where. Jonathan Adler is at 1439 W. Lake St.; call 612-353-5311.
