CLOQUET, Minn. — A Cloquet man is accused of helping his ex-wife try to kill her current husband.
Thirty-eight-year-old John Bemis is charged with conspiracy to commit murder and aiding and abetting first-degree assault. Bemis went missing shortly after his ex-wife, Marie Majerle, was arrested on accusations she shot and wounded her estranged husband, Richard Majerle, at his home in Cloquet last January.
Bemis is also accused of child abandonment. Carlton County prosecutors say Bemis fled and left behind his 14-year-old daughter. Bemis was arrested in Reno, Nev., and extradited to Minnesota this week.
The Duluth News Tribune (http://bit.ly/17CwK95 ) says Bemis is expected in court Wednesday.
