There have been a few mock drafts in recent days that have former Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen falling to the Vikings with the 30th pick in the first round of this month's draft. This is a bit surprising since Clausen is considered by many to be the second best quarterback in the draft.

Clausen had a chance to help raise his stock today when he became the last of the big name quarterbacks eligible for this draft to hold his Pro Day. That was his first time throwing for NFL officials since undergoing surgery on his right foot.

According to the Associated Press story, Clausen completed 57 of 59 passes during the 30-minute workout and both incompletions came on long passes to former Notre Dame wide receiver Robby Parris. Clausen said his foot is about 80 percent and did not run during the workout.

Tony Pauline of Sports Illustrated was not all that impressed by Clausen. Here is Pauline's report. Pro Football Talk reports that Mike Mayock of the NFL Network felt differently. "I saw everything I need to see," Mayock said, per PFT. "He had a strong arm. Good accuracy. I saw what I expected to see."

Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell was in South Bend, Ind., to watch Clausen.

"I thought he made some nice throws," Bevell told the Associated Press. "He really did a good job for himself in terms of the types of balls that he threw. He threw some deep corner routes. He threw some comebacks. It gives you an opportunity to see how the ball comes out."

Vikings coach Brad Childress and a few other members of his staff are in Gainesville, Fla.. Childress is speaking at a coaches clinic on campus today and then will see several draft-eligible former Gators work out before returning to the Twin Cities on Saturday.
