Thursday-next Sunday: This week, new SPCO artistic partner Christian Zacharias leads the ensemble in a baroque and classical program that showcases his broad talents as pianist, conductor and programmer. After soloing in four piano sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti, he conducts a concerto grosso by little-known 18th-century English composer Charles Avison that gives the baroque Scarlatti a classical twist. Bach, Handel and Haydn round out the program. Zacharias also leads the SPCO at the Ordway Center next weekend, in a program including Schumann's Symphony No. 1.
