SHANGHAI QUARTETSunday: You might suppose that the Shanghai Quartet consists of four Chinese string players. But in good globalized fashion, this exacting ensemble (in residence at a university in New Jersey) boasts a cellist, Nicholas Tzavaras, from New York's Spanish Harlem. The group's season-ending program on the Schubert Club's Music in the Park Series is similarly heterogeneous, mixing music by Spain's Joaquín Turina ("The Matador's Prayer"), Poland's Krzysztof Penderecki (Quartet No. 3) and Austria's Franz Schubert ("Death and the Maiden") with arrangements of Chinese folk songs.
