Fourth-seeded Hill-Murray shook off a slow start thanks to some timely production from unlikely sources to defeat Duluth East 5-3 and advance to tomorrow night's Class 2A boys' hockey semifinals against No. 1-seeded Minnetonka.
The Pioneers trailed 2-0 late in the first period before fourth-liner Andy Faust's goal with 59 seconds left ignited a barrage. Hill-Murray scored another after that and twice more in the first minute of the second period to take a 4-3 lead. Freshman Zach LaValle, who scored the go-ahead goal, added a gorgeous assist on Jack Walsh's third period insurance goal.
More to come shortly setting up the Class 2A semifinal matchups.
