BOLD (13-0) vs. Mahnomen/Waubun (12-0), 10 a.m.

There's not a team in the Prep Bowl with a more fitting name than BOLD (Bird Island-Olivia-Lake Lillian District). The Warriors are a big, burly bunch on the lines, which gives quarterback Jordan Sagedahl and running backs Dawson and Gavin Vosika plenty of room to run. Mahnomen's defense is as tough as any they've faced, however. The Thunderbirds, in their first year as a co-op between Mahnomen and Waubun and with a new nickname, have seven shutouts and haven't given up a point in two state tournament games. Expect a game with lots of short gains with an occasional bigger burst of offense. The team that bursts more will have the advantage. BOLD has the added motivation of playing for longtime coach Steve Solem, who is stepping down at the end of the season after 33 years. Solem has 291 career victories, eighth most in state history.

• Jim says: BOLD 28, Mahnomen/Waubun 12

• David says: Mahnomen/Waubun 20, BOLD 13
