Education Minnesota has passed on endorsing a gubernatorial candidate (for now) but opted to recommend Republican U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann challenger, state Sen. Tarryl Clark in the 6th District congressional race.

Clark, a Democrat, has cleaned up in announced Minnesota union endorsements in the race. She's gotten support from the AFL-CIO, the nurses, service workers, steelworkers and the building trades, among others -- so it's no great surprise that she also got the teachers' union.

From the union:

Clark was among three contenders who were screened by a team of Education Minnesota members from around the 6th District. Bachmann did not fill out the required questionnaire to screen with the committee.

"Our members were impressed with Tarryl Clark's passion, her grasp of the issues and her commitment to working with us to benefit Minnesota's students," (Education Minnesota President Tom) Dooher said. "We look forward to helping elect a representative from the 6th District who will fight for students, educators and public schools."

Former Independence Party gubernatorial candidate Maureen Reed is running as a Democrat as well.
