Chip Cravaack is officially Minnesota's Eighth District congressman.

After being officially sworn in on the House floor early afternoon Wednesday, Cravaack went through the ceremonial swearing in with new House Speaker John Boehner shortly after 6 p.m., with his parents, wife, kids, sister and brother in-law all in tow.

"It was informative, it was hectic and it was wonderful," Cravaack said of his first day as a congressman. "I'm very proud to be here and very humbled to be here."

Cravaack said the first thing he plans to focus on as a House member is working with the Environmental Protection Agency on mining in the Eighth District.
