Brad Childress took time from his vacation to respond to an email request for a comment on LaDainian Tomlinson signing with the Jets. Here ya go:

"We had a great visit with him and wish him all the best. He's as classy a man as he is a football player."

The way things ended up, one has to wonder if LT's trip to Winter Park was done just to get leverage on the Jets. When you hear his agent, Tom Condon, talk about LT's desire to go where he could have a "significant role," it makes you think. (It also makes you wonder if Condon and CAA Sports wanted LT and AD, two of their star clients, on the same team.)

While LT's role behind Adrian Peterson would have been important, obviously LT and Condon knew before they scheduled any visits that LT's role with the Jets would be far more "significant" than his role could ever be in Minnesota, barring an injury to AD.

While LT has earned the benefit of the doubt when it comes to speculation on how much he's got left, his signing with the Jets could be the old blessing in disguise for the Vikings. After all, age is undefeated, even for the great ones.
