Both heads of the Chaska Parks and Recreation Department were put on leave this week after city officials received a complaint related to them.

Tom Redman, parks director, and Kathy Skinner, assistant parks director, were escorted out of the community center and placed on administrative leave Tuesday, which is standard procedure, said Matt Podhradsky, Chaska's city administrator.

Podhradsky said he's limited in what he can say about the complaint because it's a personnel matter, but that it is not criminal in nature.

A woman at Redman's home said that he had no comment Friday, and no one answered the door at Skinner's residence.

Redman and Skinner are both longtime employees, Podhradsky said, and Redman has been with the city for more than 40 years.

An independent investigator has been hired to look into the complaint, Podhradsky said.

"They were both good employees," said City Council member Paula Geisler, adding that she had "full confidence" in Podhradsky's judgment on the matter.

Bill Monk, formerly city engineer, will take over the parks director role on an interim basis, said Mayor Mark Windschitl.
