Top 25 Ds

The Gophers have ranked in the top 25 nationally in scoring defense just three times in the past 52 years:

2013: The Gophers ranked 25th in scoring defense (22.2 points per game), 85th in scoring offense (25.7) and finished 8-5. Ra'Shede Hageman and Brock Vereen were both drafted from that squad.

2009: The Gophers ranked ninth in scoring defense (16.3), 26th in scoring offense (30.7) and finished 8-4. Safety Tyrone Carter took home the Thorpe Award as the nation's top defensive back.

1967: Led by All-America defensive end Bob Stein, the Gophers ranked ninth in scoring defense (10.6), 75th in scoring offense (10.6) and finished 8-2, sharing the Big Ten title with Indiana and Purdue.
