IMPROVEMENT NOTED
The Twins still haven't beaten Justin Verlander since April 27, 2010, but they roughed up the All-Star righthander on Thursday:
• Verlander gave up 10 or more hits for the fourth time this season and at least five earned runs for the sixth time.
• Verlander hadn't allowed six earned runs to the Twins since June 29, 2007 — a span of 19 starts.
• Ryan Doumit was 0-for-12 against Verlander before getting a bloop single off him in the fourth inning. Doumit hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning off Verlander to break a 2-2 tie.
