Arguably the nation's greatest high school show on ice is back.

The boys' hockey state tournament opens Wednesday at Xcel Energy Center for a four-day run that concludes with a big-school title game that could be a much-anticipated rematch of 2014.

Tuesday: Meet the Star Tribune Metro Player of the Year and All-Metro team.

Wednesday: The Star Tribune's David La Vaque catches up with Dave Spehar, one of the tournament's biggest-ever stars. Class 1A quarterfinals start at 11 a.m.

Thursday: Lakeville North and Edina. No. 1 and No. 2. Last year's runner-up and champion. Will they meet again? Class 2A quarterfinals begin at 11 a.m.

Friday: Class 1A semifinals, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Class 2A semifinals, 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Saturday: Class 1A championship, noon. Class 2A championship, 7 p.m.
