Chart: Free agent hitters still on the market

free-agent hitters still available

Stephen Drew, SS: Finally overcame ankle problems in recent years to put up a good season with the Red Sox. Boston might let him walk and turn to super prospect Xander Bogaerts.

Shin-Soo Choo, OF: By far the best hitter available and an on-base machine on the Joe Mauer scale. But after Jacoby Ellsbury signed with the Yankees for seven years and $153 million, Choo will be looking for the same.

Nelson Cruz, OF: He can hit home runs but will strike out a lot and is not smooth in the outfield. But teams desperate for offense will be interested. And they will likely overlook his Biogenesis history.

Kendrys Morales: DH: The switch-hitter should be good for 20-25 home runs and he's OK defensively if you need him at first. Twins like to rotate players through the DH spot so he might not be a good fit.

Trade talks among front offices have continued to pick up over the last week. The Twins are seeking bullpen help and possibly an infielder.
