As CBA coach: Paid his dues with seven years in the NBA's version of the minor leagues, where he won two CBA titles.

As college coach: Started his coaching career at Golden Valley Lutheran, where he was 92-13 in four seasons. He moved from there to an assistant job at the University of Minnesota, and was an assistant two years at the University of Tulsa before moving to the CBA.
