New Minneapolis Public Schools athletic director Trent Tucker, who obtained his college degree at age 46, has an unusual résumé for someone in his role. He calls himself a different, not risky, hire. "Change is good," he said.

Pro basketball background: NBA player for 11 years. Member of Chicago Bulls (1992-1993 champions), San Antonio Spurs (1991-1992), New York Knicks (1982-1991). First-round draft pick (sixth overall) in 1982.

Minnesota ties: Gophers men's basketball 1978-1982, All-America selection in 1982. Jersey retired in 2011.
