Charlie Pacunas, a former Northwest Airlines executive, died Sunday in a motor vehicle accident in Montrose County, Colo., his daughter Beth Pacunas said. Charlie Pacunas, 70, formerly of Minneapolis and currently of Franklin, Tenn., was driving on a scenic pass in the Rocky Mountains when he fell asleep and his Ford Mustang left the road and plunged more than 200 feet into a ravine. He was not found until Tuesday morning, according to his daughter. Pacunas worked for Northwest Airlines corporate communications division from the early 1990s until around 2000, and was responsible for creating videos and community outreach programs for the airline's AirCares program, in which customers can donate cash or World Perks miles to various charities. He also worked on other NWA-sponsored events and philanthropic ventures, his daughter said.
