Changes at the top for indie film company Werc Werk Works

Co-founder Christine Walker resigns as president

Werc Werk Works, the Minneapolis independent film production and finance company behind "Howl" and "Life During Wartime" has lost its president. Independent Spirit Award nominated producer Christine Walker ("American Splendor" "Factotum"), who co-founded WWW with Elizabeth Redleaf, reports that she has resigned "so that I can devote more time developing some of my pet projects." Walker's bio has been removed from the executive management gallery on the firm's web page and her image is nowhere to be seen in the red carpet photo for"Howl," which she co-produced with Redleaf. Walker indicated that she will continue to work with and for WWW, however. Walker's departure is surprising in view of the apparently close working relationship between the WWW co-founders, who often deferred to one another in interviews, finished each other's sentences and traveled together to film festivals. "I will continue to produce projects with Werks and function in a consulting role," Walker wrote in an email. She is currently in on location in Utah for the filming of WWW's "Darling Companion," which she is executive producing. "I consider myself incredibly fortunate that I can continue to produce with my colleagues while pursuing projects that are close to my heart," she wrote.

FILE -- A rent deposit slot at an apartment complex in Tucker, Ga., on July 21, 2020. As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
