If you've stood in the hair care aisle at Target, carefully reading boxes and puzzling over what to get for your unruly locks, help is coming to town in the form of the John Frieda Style On-Site Tour. The mobile salon, which will park next to the Mall of America for two days, will feature styling stations staffed by a pro-hair care team, including celebrity stylist Harry Josh.

Josh -- who has styled hair for many of Hollywood's hottest heads, including Blake Lively, Gwyneth Paltrow, Rose Byrne and Ellen Pompeo -- and the other stylists will offer free 15-minute lessons to help you with your hair challenges. They'll also give you a list of products that you can pick up in a drugstore. (No products will be sold on-site.)

Josh and his crew aren't advocating complicated up-dos for summer. Instead, they take a laid-back approach to treating your tresses. "Summer-wise, it's always effortless with a lot of messy unkempt hair, braids, waves and knots on top of your head," he said. "You can beat the heat and still have a look at the same time."

HERE ARE SOME OF HIS TIPS:

Lighten up: The new foams allow for easier and more thorough at-home color application. But don't overdo. "We advise you to stay within two shades of your own hair color," Josh said, adding that lighter is better than darker. "Lighter will always soften your face and your gray maintenance will be easier, it will grow out more gracefully."

Fight frizz: To get those flyaways under control, start with a shampoo and conditioner designed to "weigh down the frizz," said Josh. Then, add serum or a combination of serum and cream when your hair is still wet. "Once air starts to get to the curls, putting on notions and lotions won't do anything," he said. After you've applied product, let your hair air dry and don't touch it. "The more you touch your hair, the more frizz you create."

Add fluff: If your hair goes flat in the summer, Josh recommends using Volume Refresher, a spray-on dry shampoo. "It keeps your hair weightless and light," he said.

Do the twist: "Braids are a must for summer because they are so simple to create and really fashion-forward," said Josh. He favors wearing your hair down with a braid pulled back and pinned on one side, a side braid or a messy fishtail. "Once you've got the braid in place and fastened, just roughen it up a bit," he said.

Make waves: Go beachy without the sand, like Josh's longtime client Gisele Bundchen. "I apply Full Repair Root Lift Foam on hair while it's still wet, concentrating on the crown, for flexible hold and a base for when I blow hair dry," he said. After you dry hair, take a curling iron and wrap individual sections one at a time. Brush out the curls for that tousled look and apply lightweight hair spray to hold the look.

Pick of the week:

Sincerely Carolyn Pollack sterling cuff, $80, and earrings, $38, QVC.com

If jewelry designer Carolyn Pollack's new "Rainbow Falls" collection looks vaguely familiar, that could be because she created them from turquoise, phosphosiderite, lapis and variscite to mimic Minnesota's geology. "I often yearn for the green woodlands and lakes of Minnesota," said the Albuquerque-based designer, who grew up in Mankato. She describes her collection as having "a beautiful combination of natural gemstones that reflect this magical glow in the northern Minnesota sky far away from any light pollution," and "sculptural sterling silver captures the pristine waters of this protected paradise."
