FORT MYERS, FLA. - With so many injured regulars, the Twins better hope that all hitters need are two weeks of spring training to get their timing down. Several players have yet to have a spring training at-bat.

There was a chance Joe Mauer (left knee) was going to catch in the bullpen Sunday but indications are that he didn't. He needs to catch some bullpen sessions and test his knee before the Twins can even guess when he will play in a spring game.

First baseman Justin Morneau (concussion) looked sharp during fielding drills but is still out indefinitely.

Outfielder Michael Cuddyer will need several more days to recover after a wart was removed from his left foot last week.

Outfielder Delmon Young's turf toe hasn't gotten much better, manager Ron Gardenhire said. So Young will be out a few more days.

And, on Sunday, Alexi Casilla tweaked his left ankle while running the bases in a 3-0 victory over Baltimore and could miss a few days. That's five projected starters. When is it time to panic?

"We still have plenty of time here but it can't go into the end the of the month and all of a sudden you say, 'A week to go, we can do this."' Gardenhire said. "It's not going to happen. Is there a cutoff date? Probably. We haven't decided on that yet. Right now we're waiting until we can get them on the field and get them in games."

More from the game • Twins first base coach Jerry White left Sunday's game after the seventh inning after he was struck on the left shin by an errant pickoff throw by Baltimore's Wynn Pelzer. White was down on the ground for a few minutes before getting up and finishing the inning. Gardenhire said he couldn't help but laugh once he got out there because of White's penchant for drama. "We're going to give Jerry White an Oscar," Gardenhire said.

• The Twins have scheduled another B-game, this time on Tuesday when they play host to Pittsburgh. Righthanders Kevin Slowey, Kyle Gibson, David Bromberg and Deolis Guerra are expected to pitch in the game, scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.

• Twins second baseman Tsuyoshi Nishioka had a hit-and-run single in the third -- with Casilla scoring when he caught the Orioles defense sleeping -- and an RBI triple to right-center in the fifth.

• Righthander Jim Hoey threw several pitches clocked at 96 miles per hour, and one at 98, during an inning of work Sunday. But he also walked a batter on four pitches.

On deck Jim Thome will be back in the lineup Monday when the Twins play host to the Cardinals in Fort Myers. Righthander Scott Baker, who has been treated carefully since coming back from having chips removed from his elbow, is scheduled to start for the Twins. Jake Westbrook is scheduled to start for St. Louis.
