The Twins haven't announced who will be called up to fill their opening on their 25-man roster, but indications are that it will be Class AAA Rochester outfielder Matt Carson.

The move was announced Thursday afternoon by Carson's agency, Paragon, on twitter. "#Twins have called up OF Matt Carson! Congratulations Matt!" the tweet reads under the handle @ParagonSportInt.

Carson, a non-roster invite to spring training, is batting .277 with 14 homers and 49 RBI in 110 games with the Red Wings.

Twins assistant general manager Ron Antony, when reached on Thursday, said no official announced would come from the club until Friday, when the Twins open a three-game series in Seattle. Carson would have to be added to the 40-man roster, so the Twins would have to make room for him,

With Denard Span (right collarbone) and Ben Revere (right ankle) nursing injuries, Carson, an outfielder, would give the Twins flexibility. Revere injured his ankle on Wednesday but came back to hit a triple during a loss to Detroit. It's unclear if the ankle has given him problems since then.

Chris Parmelee has been the hot bat at Rochester, batting .348 with 15 homers and 41 RBI in 50 games. He can play the outfield, but has been playing first base recently for the Red Wings.

Carson, 31, has 46 games of major league experience with Oakland in parts of 2009 and 2010.
