A 29-year-old Norwood Young America man accused of stealing a car and leading police on a high-speed chase through three suburbs this week has been charged with two counts of burglary, aggravated robbery and fleeing police in a motor vehicle.

Alexander Kawika Gryskiewicz told police that on Monday he was looking for a car to get out of town because police had a warrant for his arrest, according to a criminal complaint filed in Hennepin County District Court

About 6:30 a.m., Gryskiewicz saw a woman getting into a GMC Terrain that was parked in her garage, the complaint said. He allegedly pushed the woman to the ground and threatened to shoot her. Gryskiewicz got in the vehicle and led police on a 22-mile chase before crashing in Prior Lake, the complaint said.

At times, Gryskiewicz intentionally swerved at an oncoming squad car, police say. Two Burnsville squad cars collided at Williams Drive and Upton Avenue S. while trying to stop Gryskiewicz. Two officers were injured, the complaint said.

Speeds reached 80 miles per hour as Gryskiewicz tore through shopping center parking lots, along major thoroughfares and through neighborhoods in Burnsville, Savage and Prior Lake, the complaint said. At times he drove on the wrong side of County Road 42 and Burnsville Parkway.

Authorities said Gryskiewicz was in possession of 1.35 grams of marijuana when he was arrested after crashing near Pike Lake Trail and Carriage Hills Parkway in Prior Lake.

Gryskiewicz remained in the Hennepin County jail Friday. His first court appearance is scheduled for March 29.
