Candidates galore in Shakopee, Savage

August 24, 2013 at 9:58PM

Six people are seeking seats on the Savage City Council this fall, and five in Shakopee.

In Shakopee, contestants for the seats of retiring Council Members Pam Schurman and Steve Clay include Jordan Olson, Kathi Mocol, Aaron Weyer, Mark Reimler and Mike Luce.

The only council candidate in either city listing a website so far is Chamber of Commerce board member Mocol (www.kathimocol.com), whose issues list is reminiscent of that of Mayor Brad Tabke, who also emerged from chamber leadership.

In the race for mayor, Tabke is online with www. bradtabke.com, and his challenger, veteran Council Member Matt Lehman, is at www.re-elect-lehman.com, doubtless left over from past races for a different office.

In Savage, contestants for the seats of incumbents Gene Abbott and Jane Victorey, both running, are Shaun Alexander, Jeremy Seykora, James "Chuck" Boisvert and Josh Welter.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
