On her website, singer/author Rosanne Cash usually does monthly picks of her favorite books, movies and music. But her site right now is devoted to promoting her new CD, "The List." When she was at the Guthrie Theater this month, she told us about her current recommendations.

" 'Wolf Hall' by Hilary Mantel is historical fiction told from Thomas Cromwell's point of view on Henry VIII's court. It's just remarkable. I just cannot put it down.

"My favorite chick flick lately is 'It's Complicated.' Of course, I'd go see Meryl Streep read the phone book.

"Musically, my favorite lately is my daughter's album ['Chelsea Crowell']. It's not often that you get a chance to understand your child from an objective place. To get to see her from one songwriter to another is such a visceral pleasure. It's so satisfying. She's very cinematic in her writing. It's very full of really strong imagery. The fact that she wrote this Civil War song from a first-person perspective just kind of blew my mind."
