Former Godfather's Pizza CEO Herman Cain came in first with more than half of the votes in a Republican presidential straw poll taken among activists from across the Midwest Saturday.

Cain, who got 52.6 percent of the vote, spoke to attendees through video and took questions from the audience. Ron Paul's campaign had a booth at the event. Paul came in fourth.

U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann placed second with 12.2 percent at the Midwest Leadership Conference even though the event was in Minnesota and attracted many from Bachmann's home state. Former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney came in a close third with 11.1 percent of the vote.

Texans were next in votes with Paul capturing 10.7 percent and Rick Perry garnering 4 percent. Newt Gingrich got 3.3 percent, Rick Santorum landed at 2 percent, Jon Huntsman and Gary Johnson received under one percent of the vote.

Paul did better in a straw poll at this weekend's Value Voters summit in Washington, DC, placing first with 37 percent of the vote. In that poll, Cain placed second, Santorum placed third, Perry and Bachmann tied for fourth with 8 percent and Romney came in fifth with 4 percent.

Since winning the high-profile Ames Iowa straw poll over the summer, Bachmann polling numbers have dipped in both straw polls and in public opinion polls nationally and in early states.
