The ink isn't very old on FOX 9 anchor Jeff Passolt's divorce decree, and guess what he's got? A fiancée.

"Yeah, I am engaged. Been together for a long enough time; decided that that's just the right thing to do and get on with my life," said Passolt. "She's kind of a private gal, not in the business or anything like that, so I'm sure she'd prefer to keep it that way, as would I."

One way to have kept this more private would have been not making a reference to a fiancée during a radio appearance, eh?

When was his marriage of 29 or so years officially over? "Months ago," said Passolt, adding "January 27" after he was heard flipping through a calendar.

Psychologist and radio talk show host Dr. Joy Browne would not be pleased. Browne's rule is that we need a year, maybe two, alone to do the deep contemplation on what we contributed to the failure of the marriage before we start to date.

"Is that right?" said Passolt. "Obviously, I don't" listen to Browne.

Obviously. Perhaps Passolt would prefer to hear these concerns from a man. "Seems kind of early to go jumping back into the married pool again, after just getting out after 29 years," e-mailed Robert from Plymouth, who along with Garry tipped me off to Passolt's having revealed his new status on the radio. Passolt mentioned he and his fiancée "were playing golf behind some of the members of the band Foreigner. Any news on who the lucky lady is?" wrote Garry.

I'm going to play along with her need for privacy until hearing her need for validation expressed in one of those Don't-you-know-who-my-fiancé/husband-is? comments.

The father of two said that his intended has no kids and that he is not planning to have more. He confirmed that this is the same woman with whom he was spotted out and about back in 2009, when viewers noticed he was no long wearing a wedding band.

There's no plan for this next walk down the aisle to occur in 2010, he said.

Adrian, Adrian, Adrian

Adrian Peterson also has a fiancée, according to SportsbyBrooks.com, hard as this is for me to believe.

Her name is Ashley Brown, an aspiring actor and model he met at the University of Oklahoma, who reportedly posed under the name Ashley Thompson for a Playboy spread showing women of the Big 12. Her poses are so revealing and/or unladylike that the website slapped big black boxes over photos of her work.

"The couple has been engaged for some time, but Peterson hasn't announced the news to media. A 2007 story about Peterson and Brown by WCCO Radio referenced her as Peterson's girlfriend," writes Brooks. "She now lives with him in [Minnesota] and was most recently spotted with the NFL player during a trip [in March to promote the NFL in] South Africa before the World Cup. As for why she posed for Playboy, there's no tellin'. Though I heard today from more than one source that the couple was on- and off-again quite a bit during their time together at Norman. Perhaps Brown went through with the shoot under a pseudonym during one of those temporary break-ups."

It is unclear to me if Brown is also the mother of Peterson's toddler, Adeja.

She's a pretty girl, but those pictures do nothing to enhance his image as a guy who makes good decisions. Why did I foolishly assume that Peterson's quiet demeanor and megawatt smile meant he'd keep it classy in his personal life?

Santana smiles on charity

Carlos Santana created some frantic moments for Smile Network last week when he was at St. Paul's X.

"It's 5 o'clock on the nose on Wednesday," said Kim Valentini , founder of the charity that transforms the smiles of children in developing countries, via voice mail. "We have just been back-doored into the Santana concert. He is doing some signing of guitars for Smile Network. Thought you might like to accompany us."

Cell phone signals to basements being what they are, my chance to shoot video of Santana didn't materialize.

Smile Network also got merchandise that will be auctioned at future events signed by Styx, Foreigner, Kansas, Sammy Hagar and Jonny Lang.

Goodbye, Ross

Since Ross the Intern wasn't where he was scheduled to meet me last week, I can only conclude that I was stood up.

Was told Ross would be at the Pride Festival Beer Garden from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 26. A Minneapolis police officer can confirm that I was there but the comedian was not. So far, no e-mail apologizing or explaining his whereabouts has arrived. As one of my colleagues noted: When an intern has an appointment with an adult, the intern should show up.
