The ink isn't very old on FOX 9 anchor Jeff Passolt's divorce decree, and guess what he's got? A fiancée.
"Yeah, I am engaged. Been together for a long enough time; decided that that's just the right thing to do and get on with my life," said Passolt. "She's kind of a private gal, not in the business or anything like that, so I'm sure she'd prefer to keep it that way, as would I."
One way to have kept this more private would have been not making a reference to a fiancée during a radio appearance, eh?
When was his marriage of 29 or so years officially over? "Months ago," said Passolt, adding "January 27" after he was heard flipping through a calendar.
Psychologist and radio talk show host Dr. Joy Browne would not be pleased. Browne's rule is that we need a year, maybe two, alone to do the deep contemplation on what we contributed to the failure of the marriage before we start to date.
"Is that right?" said Passolt. "Obviously, I don't" listen to Browne.
Obviously. Perhaps Passolt would prefer to hear these concerns from a man. "Seems kind of early to go jumping back into the married pool again, after just getting out after 29 years," e-mailed Robert from Plymouth, who along with Garry tipped me off to Passolt's having revealed his new status on the radio. Passolt mentioned he and his fiancée "were playing golf behind some of the members of the band Foreigner. Any news on who the lucky lady is?" wrote Garry.
I'm going to play along with her need for privacy until hearing her need for validation expressed in one of those Don't-you-know-who-my-fiancé/husband-is? comments.
