Let the "Demonizing of Kris Humphries" begin!

It's already started.

"Kim Kardashian's friends are scoffing at Kris Humphries, claiming he's full of BS when he says he wanted to have a simple life with her in Minnesota, because once the marriage fell apart he immediately began 'chasing fame,'" TMZ reported on Tuesday. "We're told Kim was especially put off that Kris hired a Hollywood publicist over the weekend to work on his image."

Harvey Levin, take off your Radishes costume and ask a TMZ staffer to check my April 11 column in the Star Tribune about the PR firm Humphries hired and subsequently cut loose. Did Kardashian have a problem with Humphries hiring this LA PR firm to elevate his profile during the height of their hot-and-heavy, made-for-TV romance?

Wednesday's salvo from TMZ (which has at least one staffer who is out front about being pretty chummy with the Kardashians) reads: "Kris' Parents Hated Me" in a banner headline.

"Kim is telling friends that Kris' family is actually partly to blame for the failure of the marriage. Kim is telling friends [Kris' parents] had nothing but disdain for her and her family and never wanted their son to tie the knot," writes TMZ. "Kim is telling her posse, 'It's ridiculous that Kris' family is making Kris look like the victim.'" Kardashian claims Debra and William Humphries constantly "belittled" her, were "nasty" to her family and that a lot of this was captured on camera.

Then don't just tell me about it: SHOW us the videotape!

Anyway, what sane parents wouldn't try to stop their child from climbing aboard a train that's headed over a cliff?

Ultimately, these parents let Kris make his own disastrous decision.

Not once have I had a friend of William or Debra Humphries say anything belittling or unkind about Kim. Not even so much as one big butt joke.

Have they gotten upset as they watched their child being treated poorly and having his looks compared to Frankenstein's? Of course. But not an unkind word have I heard about Kim, although her Kardashian clan famously call each other, including their mom, some horrible names.

My information is that the Humphries of Minnesota were describing Kim as "good, down-to-earth, Christian girl."

Of course, Kim showed them what kind of Christian she was by ordering wedding day Maybach limos for her family and vans for the Humphries. Kim showed how Christian she was by making sure Kris used his flight miles to fly out Pastor Joel Johnson to unite them in holy matrimony.

Even ignoring the fact that this immature, spoiled bride and her groom rushed the altar, this marriage never had a chance, mainly because the self-centered, calculating Kim could not ever forsake all others -- especially her family -- for her husband.

The most obvious "irreconcilable difference" that led to the breakdown of this marriage, in my opinion, is that Kris does not know how to be a lap dog to the Kardashian women like Bruce Jenner, Lamar Odom and Rob Kardashian.

Kris actually could be as tactless as Khloe Kardashian, the most impolitic member of this clan of maladroits.

That is why, when Kim inanely worried "How am I going to have a career and live in Minnesota?" Kris, a clueless pro athlete, replied, "By the time you have kids and they're in school, nobody will probably care about you."

He's probably right. But that's no way to present this information to a delusional reality TV star. She is a successful career woman right now, even if she's not that bright and everything she's got is an accident of marketing.
