C.J.: Chapter and verse of Ponder's tweets

Vikings QB Christian Ponder apparently is turning to his faith to help him endure the stinging criticism that has followed disappointing Minnesota Vikings losses in which the young quarterback has often struggled. The temperature is sure to rise again on social media and elsewhere in the wake of Sunday's loss to the Packers.

In recent weeks Ponder has taken to Twitter -- @cponder7 -- to convey his thoughts. The last Tweet was about eight days ago.

Nov. 25: "In God, whose word I praise -- in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? Psalm 56:4."

Nov. 23: "Ecclesiastes 3:13: And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God."

Nov. 21: "Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Psalm 107:1."

Nov 19: "Proverbs 16:18: Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall."

Nov. 17: "Exodus 14:14: The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm."

He's also offered social media nods to his romantic interest, ESPN's Samantha Steele. On Nov. 11 Ponder sassed: "Great team win! Big shout out to @Samantha Steele for helping us win this one!" That was the Detroit game.

No doubt that was a little shot at fans who think Ponder hasn't played well since he's been in what seems to be a relationship -- although when do they see each other?

That word!Christian Ponder may want to cover his eyes as much as I wanted to guard my ears after Paul Charchian wore out an inelegant term on FOX 9 Sunday while complaining about how sorry the Vikings are.

Quoting only the sentences in which Charchian used a profane term that seemed to indicate that his anger at the team's poor play was centered in his bladder.

"I'm [expletive]. ... I'm [expletive] because of the unmitigated needlessness of this loss. ... I'm [expletive] because 52 men played well enough to win and one didn't. ... I'm [expeletive] because our coaching staff is either so pigheaded, stubborn or blind that they failed to see what everyone else saw in Christian Ponder's unraveling during the game. ... I'm [expletive] because we are wasting the best years of Adrian Peterson's career. ... I'm [expletive] because this team does not learn from its mistakes. ... I'm [expletive]. You should be [expletive], too."

To defend Ponder a little bit here: He does not have a receiving corps. Maybe acrobatic Jerome Simpson should try catching the rock with his feet. Of course, that won't help considering Ponder's other problems. "There is really an arm strength problem with Christian and a decision-making problem," Charchian said on TV.

Let me distract you with this: How about that Adrian Peterson? Loved how he checked out the stadium screen to see if any Packer was on his heels, so No. 28 knew how much more of the jets to turn on en route to the end zone. Don't wear yourself out Adrian. I agree with Charch. We're done here. No need to beat up another one of my Alabama QBs by putting Joe Webb in now.

The problem was Tarvaris Jackson. The problem was Donovan McNabb. My darling intelligent Christian Ponder cannot now be the problem causing Charch to be so ... you know.

Via Twitter, I asked Charch if he felt a tad coarse and inarticulate after dropping that euphemism for urinating on things during his rant. He has not yet responded to my Monday tweet. Here are, for his considerations, some synonyms: furious, livid, indignant, irate, mad, crazed, apoplectic.

Could somebody tell me why that word has become suitable for television and newspapers?
