Alibaba Group, Hangzhou, China, named Min "Amy" Xu chief patent counsel. Xu was a partner at Hamre, Schumann, Mueller & Larson and Dorsey & Whitney. She is on the board of trustees at the William Mitchell College of Law and on the advisory council for the University of Minnesota's China Center.

CHS, Inver Grove Heights, named Jake Hamlin director of state government affairs. Hamlin was director of state government relations for Cargill and was a committee administrator for the Minnesota House. He is a graduate of St. Olaf College and received his master's degree from ­Hamline University.

Briggs and Morgan, Minneapolis, has named Kristine Boylan to focus on the commercial side of intellectual property rights. Boylan was a partner at Merchant & Gould and was appointed as a panelist to the Panel of Neutrals for the International Trademark Association.

HGA named Ehsan Dehbashi energy and infrastructure principal in the Minneapolis office. Dehbashi has held leadership positions at COWI North America Energy, Chevron Energy Solutions, FVB Energy-Minneapolis and Noresco.

Waterstone Mortgage named Lisa Wells loan officer at its Maple Grove branch. Wells has closed more than 2,500 loans and plans to open a satellite branch in Minnetonka. She is a coach for the CORE Training and has worked for Alerus Mortgage and Wells Fargo.

Messerli & Kramer, Minneapolis, named Brett Larson to its corporate and business law group. Larson was an attorney for Saliterman & Siefferman and is an adviser to the Sunshine Memorial Foundation board of directors. The firm also named Amie Penny Sayler to the business litigation group.

Women's Foundation of Minnesota, Minneapolis, named Mary Ellis Peterson senior gift officer. Peterson was the philanthropic services adviser and gift planning officer for the Minneapolis Foundation.

Cultural Jambalaya, Edina, named J.B. Mayo Jr. to the board. Mayo is an associate professor of curriculum and instruction at the University of Minnesota.
