The Gophers continue to pluck local talent for their 2016 recruiting class. On Monday, they received a commitment from Kamal Martin, a 6-3, 210-pound athlete from Burnsville.

Martin gives the Gophers 13 commits for the 2016 class, including eight from Minnesota.

Martin is a consensus three-star recruit who had previously committed to play quarterback for Eastern Michigan. He attended a recent Gophers camp and moved around to multiple positions, including linebacker and tight end.

Martin also had reported offers from Northern Iowa and Northwestern State. He announced Monday's decision on Twitter, thanking Eastern Michigan and saying that he is ending his recruitment. "I will be attending the University of Minnesota for the next 4-5 years," he said.
