A residential fire has killed an 80-year-old man who lived in southwestern Minnesota his entire life.

Myron "Mike-Sonny" Pigman died Thursday at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, five days after his home caught fire northeast of Lakefield, according to the medical examiner's office.

Pigman died from burns suffered in the blaze, which the medical examiner characterized as accidental.

He was born in Worthington, started farming west of Lakefield and lived in the area until his death.
